KaMRa - Treatment for Presbyopia ("laU hua", 老花)

The KAMRA procedure

With KAMRA , only ONE EYE needs to be implanted for the treatment of presbyopia.

KAMRA is implanted during an out-patient procedure:

  • Topical anesthetic eye drops are administered onto one eye.
  • A flap or pocket incision is created with a femtosecond laser (as used in "bladeless" LASIK)
  • The eye surgeon implants KAMRA in the cornea of one eye, under a LASIK-type flap or a smaller "pocket" incision.
  • The KAMRA corneal inlay is inserted and centred.
  • From start to finish, the procedure is less than 20 minutes.

Advantages of the KAMRA procedure

  • Easily implanted using existing "bladeless" LASIK technologies.
  • No stitches required.
  • Minimal impact on distance vision.
  • The inlay is upgradeable if newer versions are available.

Flap or flap type pocket created with microincision in the cornea – outermost layer of the eye.

The KAMRA corneal inlay is inserted and centred.
